Warning shelters in Maryville

Due to the extreme cold, three warming stations have been designated in Maryville, according to the Nodaway Newsleader. The Maryville Community Center will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Maryville Library from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.  and the Nodaway County Health Department from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Pediatric urgent care opens in St. Joseph

    Downing Pediatrics opened a new Pediatric Urgent Care location in St. Joseph, according to News-Press Now. The facility, located at 1918 North Woodbine Road, is open to all children aged newborn to 18-years and will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

  • Former clerk sues Hopkins

    A former Hopkins city clerk filed a lawsuit against the city, according to the Maryville Forum. The lawsuit claims city leaders discriminated against him and denied him whistleblower protection during his employment in 2024.

  • Applications open for opioid settlement funding

    Buchanan County and the City of St. Joseph opened the application window for individuals and organizations to apply for a portion an of $156,000 in annual opioid settlement funding, according to the News-Press Now. Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on March 15 and can be found at www.stjoemo.org/.

  • Robotics team competes in competitions

    The Platte Valley N.E.R.D.S. robotics team finished in seventh place against 28 teams at the KC East League Tournament earlier this month, according to the Maryville Forum. The alliance won three of the four matches in the playoff matches and advanced to the Missouri Kansas City West Super Qualifier last weekend.
